I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Yep as most of you noticed I've been MIA recently.

After a long, melodramatic, drawn-out affair, my laptop's charger finally died. Couldn't access any of my PSDs or reference pics to work on anything, which pisses me off to the highest degree.
Last week the computer repair shop down the road got a generic charger in (which they sold to me for $25 compared to Dell asking for $100 for theirs), but lo and behold, the wattage wasn't right and at the moment my laptop is working at 2/3rds its full potential on it so I can't overload it, which Photoshop, Steam, and sometimes Firefox seems to do.

And OH JOY, on top of all that, both of the Wacom tablets I own are on the fritz. My main, Cintiq, stops responding to the stylus every now and then and when I tried my auxiliary tablet, the Intuos3, same thing--except it would just be the pressure sensitivity going out when the pen derps. I am in contact with a tech support guy from Wacom though. Hopefully we can figure this mess out.

Good news though, the shop may be getting the correct charger in a couple of days. I can trade this temporary charger they allowed me to borrow and get the correct one for the difference of the price, and we can FINALLY get back to normal here.

You have no idea how sorry I am about taking so freakin' long with this. I really hope you think I'm not making excuses or being lazy. I can draw and color ponies in a New York Minute, but if it ain't one thing going wrong, it's another... or everything going wrong at once.x__x

Good news though! I got a call this morning from the shop, my charger is there! I'mma go there as soon as I get out of class and get this mofo working again, full speed ahead!
